Nestled at 447 Moreland Ave in Little Five Points stands a building steeped in history. Once the Carnegie Library, this building has undergone a metamorphosis, evolving and adapting with time. It encapsulates the essence of Atlanta — a city defined by renewal and transformation. Today, this historic building plays host to Wish ATL, a streetwear boutique unlike no other.
At the helm of Wish ATL is Julie Hogg, the CEO whose vision has propelled the boutique to the forefront of streetwear culture. The shelves that once held literature now showcase a curated selection of contemporary clothing from both local and national designers.
But what truly sets Wish ATL apart is not just its merchandise, but the individuals behind the scenes. Co-founded by Lauren Amos and led by Hogg, this boutique is a testament to the power of women in the streetwear industry.
"The rewards outweigh the challenges, but there are plenty," reflects Hogg. "Often, I find myself in rooms where I'm the only woman. There's this assumption that because I'm female, I must be unfamiliar with streetwear or sneakers. But what people fail to realize is that I have a deep understanding of this culture. I have a background in basketball; I know the stories, I know the people. You can't judge a book by its cover. Women in this industry possess the same knowledge and passion as our male counterparts."
Wish ATL isn't just a store; it's a testament to resilience, creativity, and the enduring spirit of Atlanta.
