CELEBRATING WHM: MEET DYANA NEMATALLA

This year for Women's History Month, we want to shine a light on Women of all styles that are currently making history within the creative community in Atlanta.

Today, we're giving the spotlight to Dyana Nematalla, Atlanta Haircut Specialist and CEO of Sirene Salon and Tinte Salon

Get to know Dyana

I grew up living between the U.S and Saudi Arabia. I started cutting hair at 18 under a mentorship program then went to SCAD and majored in fashion design; with that degree I moved to NYC to start my career in fashion and quickly found out it wasn't for me. I re-routed my plan and went back to the hair industry and landed a dream job as a hairstylist at a highly coveted salon.

I worked in NYC doing hair for the Met ball backstage during fashion week and so much editorial work. After 10 years of working on my career, I decided it was time to come back home to Atlanta. The film industry was booming and I could tap into this market with the experience and connections in NYC. I've been doing hair for a total of 20 years now.

I studied the market closely in Atlanta and I moved back here to elevate the salon experience because I felt it was lacking. I chose to place/invest my businesses in West Midtown because I love the area and its potential. I’m thrilled that more businesses are coming here and choosing Atlanta as their home. I came here to give Atlanta a little piece of NYC street chic style and a little bit of that undone LA hair.

I have the best team of women that also have vast knowledge from LA and NYC. We have all worked with the best of the best and we continue to bring it back to Atlanta. When I hire someone, I look at it as investing in this person. I am giving this woman a chance to be part of my brand that I built from the ground up. I look at their credentials and resume as well as their ability to have that drive and hunger to want to be the best in the business.

In a female dominated industry, it's important to build each other up and create opportunities for everyone. I hope to empower women by setting an example on how to create a successful business and a fun healthy work environment.
