The sneaker world has been abuzz lately with news of Dikembe Mutombo’s return to adidas. This marks 20 years since the legendary NBA center’s African-inspired signature sneaker released, and has been begged for ever since. With African mud print motifs along with a complex upper of Black, Red, White, and Yellow hits of color, the release of the adidas Mutombo Running White/Black pays tribute to Mutombo himself as well as his Congolese Heritage. The classic shoe is rounded out by an oversized toungue featuring an African shield graphic that incorparates the letter “M” between two 5’s, nodding to his jersey number of 55.
