Having first acquainted back in 2005 on the Crooked Tongues forum, heavyweight adidas collector Quote and illustrator Peter O’Toole collaborated in 2011 on a poster that illustrated an eye-popping portion of Quote’s personal three stripe collection. The result is the adidas Originals Consortium ZX 420 ‘Quotoole’, inspired by a pair of vintage adidas Denver from Quote’s enviable archive. Taking the more performance driven ZX model, the tandem have applied the Denver’s strong blue/claret colourway to the trainer with added touches such as an antiqued off-white sole unit and portrait labels to the rear tongue tab.
